i recently had problems with vmware update manager and found out it had to do with the vmware tools
a reinstall gives me the error  "vmware tools failed to install error 1722"
 although there are some solutions on the internet, the only thing that worked for me.
at a good working server export the regkey hklmsoftwaremicrosoftcom3
delete the com3 [...]
